How long does porting my US number take? Will I lose service?

I need my number for two-factor codes, so I'm nervous about a gap.

Most US transfers are done within a few hours; some take up to one business day, depending on your current carrier.
Your current service stays on for most of it. There may be a short gap during the final switch, and it's usually back quickly. Have your number, SIM PIN and ZIP code ready, exactly as your carrier has them.
